Jennifer Patrice
Bassist, keyboardist, drummer, producer, rapper, songwriter...the list of hats worn by Jennifer Patrice is extensive, but the first and most important hat is that of a lover of music. She began a life-long love of music listening to her father's massive collection ofvinyl, being exposed to various periods and styles of music. At fifteen, she fell in love with the art of recording using a karaoke machine, Yamaha keyboard, and drum machine to produce her own tracks and lyrics, leading to a "Most Creative" awards win in high school.
Along with exploring production methods on her own,she also studied with area producers in Houston, TX and Gainesville, FL, before returning home to North Carolina to begin forming her own style. She later relocated to South Carolina and opened H2D Industries Recording studio with her husband. She has recently worked with artists and producers from the Carolinas, Georgia, New York, and the Bahamas. From gospel ground breakers Bless-ed to area rap favorites Dutch and Jethro, Jennifer Patrice is shattering glass ceilings that have hindered so many female producers in this traditionally male dominated industry.
She is currently producing projects with Philly-born neo-soul songstress NeddickaVereon and multi-genre song writer Sloan Mcknight, in further pursuit of perfecting her unique production and mastering techniques. After spending half her life in pursuit of her goal, she now launches out in full force seeking to bring a fresh ear and a unique vision to the recording industry.
Artist Q&A:
1.) How did you first hear about Open Labs?
From my husband. He works in radio and one day came home with a broadcast magazine that had an Open Labs ad in it. When he described to me what these units where capable of I KNEW I had to have one!
2.) What Production Station do you have?
The MiKo LX4.
3.) How has the gear changed your method of work?
It's made everything a lot faster and easier. I don't have the limitations I had with my old setup. I can do everything I ever wanted with the Miko.
4.) What is your production station's primary function, live or studio?
In the Studio.
5.) What is your favorite software on the board?
Reaper.
6.) How do you use it?
I use it for all production start to finish.

I had a Roland synth, PC, a Tascam 24 track digital recorder, and a bunch of rack gear.

Yep!
