Dewayne "MD" Williams

Dewayne Williams was born in 1979 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Joyce Elzie. Being the middle child of five children, his mother always considered him as the entertainer of the family. During high school, Dewayne aspired to be a hip hop artist and would record and duplicate his own recordings on cassette tapes. As he became better at what he did, he earned the nickname "Mental Decipher." In 1997, Dewayne joined the Army where his entrepreneurial drive immediately kicked into high gear.

He began producing and promoting different soldiers who had the same aspirations he once had. After a few years of developing urban artists, Dewayne decided it was time to take his love of music to the next level. In 2003, he founded and became the CEO of Deadly When Exposed Records, moved to Killeen, Texas, and had the opportunity to audition and sign an aspiring rap artist named "Mr. Redd."

D.W.E Records has grown in many ways, gaining experience by traveling to different locations and performing at various venues. Not only is DWE talented when it comes to producing the top artists and great music, but they are very versatile. They have had the opportunity to open for comedians such as; Arnez J, Joe Torry, Kat Williams, Lil J.J., and T.P. Heard. They have also performed with national acts such as; Adina Howard, Scarface, Lil Jon and the Eastside Boys, Pimp C, Devin the Dude, Lil Flip, U.N.L.V, Pitbull, Big Moe, Screwed up Click, D4L and have sold out venues multiple times.

The producer-artist duo of "MD and Mr. Redd" has begun to capture the attention of many throughout the central region of Texas. Since day one, he has transformed himself into one of the most successful upcoming producer-entrepreneurs in music history. His impeccable work ethic and extreme drives him to be the best at what he does, and proves that he's undeniably the perfect fit to bring success upon Deadly When Exposed Records.

Artist Q&A:

1.) How did you first hear about Open Labs?
I was searching online for a new workstation to purchase. I came across a youtube video of Timbaland promoting the Open Labs workstation. Since he's my favorite producer, I had to hear what he had to say. After about two months of research I was convinced enough to purchase one of my own.

2.) What Production Station do you have?
I have the Open Labs Miko Timbaland Edition.

3.) How has the gear changed your method of work?
This all in one solution increases workflow between making music and recording projects.

4.) What is your production station's primary function, live or studio?
My workstation is primarily for studio use.

5.) What is your favorite software on the board?
I enjoy Reaper and the Guru sounds.

6.) How do you use it?
I have been making Hip-hop and R&B music with my board.

7.) Which kind of equipment have you owned in the past and how do they compare to your Open Labs equipment?
I own items such as the Emu XL-7 Command station and E-Synth 76 key workstation. The speed and versatility on a Open Labs board is by far much quicker.

8.) Has the gear changed the way you write songs?
I can maneuver between sounds faster.

9.) How different is the composition process compared to the standard computer or laptop system?
I would say that the composition process is faster because the Open Labs products are dedicated and built strictly for production use. A standard computer usually wouldn't have the matching Ram and CPU speed. Other normal computer processes would slow down your production if you run too many programs/plug-ins at once.

10.) Do you think the quality of your production now would be possible with another keyboard?
A producer's creativity would always be the same regardless of what they use. Having an Open Labs boars helps with overall workflow to get things done faster. You also have more powerful tool you can use at any moment.

11.) Have you had any experience with our Tech Support and how does it rate with you?
I haven't dealt with tech support as of yet but everyone I've talked to was friendly and helpful each time I called.

12.) What is next for you and your Production Station?
I plan on increasing the amount of sounds and integrating a few more plug-ins and supported software. My new Miko workstation will definitely be heard on upcoming Deadly When Exposed Records music releases and www.dwerecords.net website.
